Spring Has Sprung

I think every single blog I have read in the last week has had that sentence in it. I'm getting sick of that sentence. It's not even that clever to begin with. But we all say it to introduce spring. Including me. Even though I am making fun of it I don't want to be left out so...Spring has sprung!

Yes, yes, the closet now contains those transitional pieces - short sleeved yet heavy weight. The windows are open, heaters off but air conditioners not yet on. I switched to my summer lotions and Feist is on more than Mazzy Star. (I know, I know, someone give the girl new music!)

Another recurring theme, in blog and real lives, is Spring cleaning. And Spring uncluttering. Apartment Therapy is running a 'House Cure' challenge, taking one room at a time and helping people to seriously clean, throw out, and redecorate their spaces so that they enjoy them. An Unclutterer post last week was '5 Spring Organizing Activities'. I love these! I'm inspired! But alas, between a tiny apartment and tiny budget we have so few possessions that everything's just a bit essential. I mean there is always something, Zeb would love it if I pared down my shoe collection, and there are a few week-old leftovers in the fridge, but we're still more on the needing more end of the spectrum. Guests have to bring their own chairs to dinner because we don't have enough.

There is one aspect of my life, though, that needs cleaning and decluttering - that's my to-do list. It's stressing me out, man. I've been trying and trying but we all know winter's not the best time to try to be hyper-productive and somehow I got way behind.

So my spring cleaning this year will be cleaning out my to-do list. It's really more like a list of New Year's Resolutions (which I never make 'cause who am I kidding? Trying to be hyper-productive in the winter?)
So here it goes:
1) Finish wedding thank-yous (guilt over this keeps me awake at night).

2) Finish movie goals (such as watching all of Ingmar Bergman's films).

3) Finish the 10 books I'm simultaneously reading.

4) Choose and order wedding photos...just in time for our 1 year anniversary.

See? All we have are these tiny little ones!
5) The list could go on but I need to stop, I'm starting to stress again, man.
Clearly some of these goals are actually urgent (thank-yous) and some are ridiculously superfluous to be stressing me out (movies). But they're all pestering at me like a little rock in my sandals. So, here's to Spring Cleaning!

Cheers to that. The clan is out of town, so I'm going to try my hand at springyness before I meet mom in Salzburg. Good luck with yours. And don't stress out too much. Ich liebe dich!

Ah so, Spring eh? and yet we are supposed to get snow again next week, wednesday-ish... does anyone ever dream of a white sprung spring?

New Music? here's a few I've found recently that you may like :)

Charlotte Gainsbourg - 5:55
Heather Nova - Siren
The John Butler Trio (just saw them in concert. Very Cool!)

Enjoy!
Thanks for reading mine. I like reading yours too

I spent the weekend organizing and spring cleaning my office. On the nice sunny days. Finished just in time for the rain to return. I wish spring would spring and get it over with...

Thanks, Sarah, for commenting on my blog, so I could be motivated to check and see if you had one. I see you do, and it's lovely. Happy Spring!

Ha! I beat you on the wedding photos! We ordered ours at 8 months.

However, we are tied on wedding thank yous - if you finish them by June. I think I mailed our last ones out the week before our one year anniversary.
